Flemington

So, how lucky are we to live in this lovely little suburb? Or in its surrounds, if that’s where you are. Every day I am so heart-warmed by the people in this community – the ones I know and the ones I don’t – and feel really, truly, like this is a lovely place to live. Friendly puppies stop for pats, small children wave and chat to each other as they walk past, and it’s so nice to share a smile and a “good morning!” with a stranger. If you don’t normally try to say hello to someone you don’t know in the course of your day, you should. Give it a try! I think you’ll like it. Back to the ‘burb. The streets are just starting to smell like spring flowers, and that is a truly uplifting smell. That, and the smell of my morning latte from Pepper, where I have been buying coffee since I first moved to this area over ten years ago. It feels like a place where everyone belongs. The little ritual of walking there most days to order our takeaway coffee is one that keeps my world turning. We also love Phat Milk, So&So, and the new kid on the block, Noughts and Crosses. We are almost spoilt for choice! It’s the weekend now, so the cafes will be heaving, the Farmers Market will be bustling, and everyone will be out and about in the winter sunshine, enjoying this little corner of Melbourne. Caity xx
