Welcome, friends, to Dish And Spoon Melbourne! We are glad you’re here. Let’s talk about why you’re here. Are you tired? Hungry? Worn out and in need of comfort and solace? Food is so good for that, isn’t it? When I’m exhausted from life my go-to is strong tea (Yorkshire Gold specifically, if you’re wondering), with a good splash of milk and a teaspoon of sugar. Obviously you’ll be needing a bickie to go with that cuppa – my preference is for a dark chocolate Digestive. Man those things are good. Anyway, sorry, we were talking about you. What’s your go-to comfort food? It really depends on the time of day too, doesn’t it? Chicken soup is instant comfort. Roast with veg, apple crumble, or anything you can eat out of a bowl really. It’s pouring rain outside as I write this and this weather really inspires you to create warmth, both in the kitchen and out of it. This time of the year it’s so important to give yourself permission to slow down, cosy up, and think about the things that bring you comfort. That might be a long bath in the morning. It might be an episode of Seinfeld once the kids are in bed. It might be knowing that your dressing gown is hanging up in the bathroom ready for you once you get out of the shower (anyone else? Just me?), anyway, the point is, find out what brings you comfort and feeds your soul, and then have that stuff in your life. Just keep it around for when you need it.
