‘The act of bringing food is one of the basic roots of all relationships’ – His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama

Dish And Spoon Melbourne are a family. We love to cook, we love to eat, and we love hanging out together (and when we hang out together, we cook and we eat).

Brett, the Chef, also known as Dad or Pop Pop, has a love of good food and hospitality in his blood and bones. A classically trained Chef (even written up in The Age Good Food Guide 1985), Brett knows what families eat. He has been feeding his family every day for the last thirty or so years, so he is something of a dinner expert. Brett has traveled the world. He has studied Thai cookery on a beach in Phuket, he has eaten every imaginable kind of German sausage, and has sampled a hundred different Tom Yum soups across Asia, but he still reckons there is nothing better than a simple, home cooked meal with the people you love around the table, maybe with a glass of vino or two to top it off. Salute! Dish And Spoon Melbourne is made possible with the help and love of his co-captain and wife, Pam, who tirelessly chips in to help with the dishes and myriad other tasks, and contributes to all aspects of creating a happy and harmonious business and home.

Caitlyn is Brett and Pam’s eldest daughter and is on hand to take your orders, answer your questions, and helps with managing the business. Caitlyn has a lovely husband, and a perfectly delicious (if not sometimes cheeky) toddler to feed, and Dish And Spoon Melbourne was her very good idea when she had a brand new baby at home, and no time (or let’s face it, inclination) to cook. The idea was to share delicious food with families, to make life a bit easier, and spread joy and a feeling of nourishment. Food is such a beautiful way to connect with family and friends. Her siblings – Dylan, and Bella, both living Internationally but a huge source of support from afar – and their partners and children complete our busy, chaotic, and wonderful family.

Dish And Spoon Melbourne care about nurturing families with the gift of food. We partner with the Ronald McDonald House in Parkville, which offers a home away from home for the families of some of Australia’s sickest children. Every week, we donate and deliver homemade meals for visitors to share, so that when they come home from a day with their child at the Royal Children’s Hospital, they have a home cooked dinner waiting for them. This partnership began as soon as Dish And Spoon did in 2017, and we are so proud to be able to help families in real need with something as seemingly simple as bringing them a meal. We have been able to share dinners with countless families so far, and we look forward to this partnership continuing well into the future.

Life is busy. Mummies, daddies, grannies, and everything in between all want more time with the people they love, doing the things that they love, rather than worrying about what’s for dinner. Dish And Spoon Melbourne makes coming home for dinner a dream. Pop the oven on, sit down and relax, and let our family feed your family xo
